About the Field Station

Tåkern Field Station was founded in 1964. Since then we have been studying birds, insects, other animals and plants. Originally the Field Station was situated at our bird tower at Glänås, on the southern side of Tåkern. In 1976 we moved to our current location at Kvarnstugan on the south-west side of the lake.

We don´t have any full-time personel at the Station, but from the end of April to middle of August we have volunteers which are paid a (small) salary. If you are interested to work here please contact Lars Gezelius on e-mail lars.gezelius@e.lst.se

We are running some 15-20 projects dealing with various species e. g. Pennduline Tit, Bearded Tit, Great Reed Warbler and Marsh Harrier. On these pages you can find information about some of our projects.

We have about 150 members.
